The Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, has entreated newly admitted students of E. P. College of Education, Amedzofe (AMECO) to stay away from acts that can potentially ruin their academic aspirations. The Regional Director made these remarks at the College’s Matriculation ceremony for fresh students which took place on Friday, 24 February 2023, at the College auditorium.

Mr. Agbemadi encouraged the matriculants to remain focused and optimistic in life.

The matriculation exercise formed part of the many events lined up by the College to fully integrate fresh students into the College community.

The colourful ceremony which marked the official enrolment of the admission of the freshmen into the College for the 2022/2023 academic year saw in attendance, members of Convocation, Management, the Volta Regional Director of Education, and members of staff.

The College matriculated 216 freshmen after a very rigorous and competitive admission and selection process. The number consists of 113 females and 103 males.

According to the Principal of the College, Dr. Dickson Tsey, this was the first time in the history of the College that more females were admitted than their male counterparts. He explained that this was possible due to the deliberate decision to give meaning to the College’s gender policy of giving education to women through the Affirmative Action Policy of the College.

The Principal informed the matriculants that the ceremony was significant because it offered them the chance to pledge their full allegiance to the authority of the College by taking the Matriculation Oath.

Dr. Tsey also added that “as fresh students, it is expected that you will abide by all rules and regulations of this institution and participate in all activities. You must be assiduous with your studies and justify your selection out of the thousand who wanted to come and study in this noble institution. Remember that the will to win, the desire to succeed, and the urge to reach your full potential are the keys that unlock the door to personal excellence”.

“Management, Staff shall be available to guide you, so long as you are willing to be guided. Enjoy your academic, social, and religious lives here. Take advantage of the captivating academic environment provided you to realise your academic dreams and prepare yourself for the careers ahead of you” Dr. Tsey added.
