PRINCIPALS HEAD TO BOLGA FOR ANNUAL PRINCOF CONFERENCE
Share: Principals Head to Bolga for Annual PRINCOF Conference

Principals from the 46 public Colleges of Education will be converging in the coming days at Bolgatanga for this year’s National Annual PRINCOF Conference scheduled to take place from Thursday, November 23 to Thursday, November 30, 2023.

The conference provides a forum for stakeholders and experts in the education sector to dialogue on key educational policies and practices on teacher education in Ghana, especially at the Colleges of Education. The conference also serves as a platform for the Principals of the Colleges of Education to reflect, and share experiences on best practices of effective leadership and administrative strategies to promote knowledge among members on teacher education in Ghana.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Repositioning Colleges of Education in Ghana as Centres of Excellence for Teacher Education in Ghana”.

The Guest Speakers for the Conference are Prof D. D. Kuupole, a Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and Prof Emmanuel Adow Obeng, a Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and a Former President of the Presbyterian University of Ghana.

In an exclusive interview with the Journal, the National President of PRINCOF, Prof. Samuel Atintono stated that “the Conference is being held at a crucial time where certain prudent decisions have to be taken on the future of the Colleges of Education. It is my hope that together with my colleague Principals and the major stakeholders, we will be able to come out with a comprehensive communique that will address the needs of our Colleges of Education”.

The Conference is expected to be graced by the Honourable Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Director in charge of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Registrar of the National Teaching Council and officials from Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning (T-TEL).

Also in attendance will be the Catholic Bishop of Bolgatanga-Navrongo Diocese, Upper East Regional Minister, Vice Chancellor for Bolga Technical University, Pro Vice Chancellor for the University for Development Studies, reps from the affiliate universities, and former Principals of the Colleges of Education.

The opening ceremony of the Conference will be streamed live on the Teacher Education Journal Facebook page on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
