Share: Innovation, Relevance, and Realization Should be your Goal” – Presbyterian Moderator to PWCE Principal

Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante has entreated the Principal of Presbyterian Women’s College to adopt innovation, relevance, and realization as her goal. The Moderator made these remarks at the investiture and induction of Mrs. Cynthia Anim as the 10th Principal of the College which took place on Wednesday, March 10, 2023, at the College’s auditorium.

In his address, the Moderator stated, “the success of any good leader is the ability to actualize the innovative ideas that God has given you. Remember innovation, relevance, and realization should be your goal. You must do all these in sustainable ways by bringing others along with you. Always remember the great women who have gone ahead of you in this institution, give them respect and appreciate them whenever you speak”.

Rt. Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante added, “you are not just a leader but a female leader and when they are counting leaders, they will count you. I want you to remember that so that no one will be able to say you could not do the work when it was given to you. But let them rather say that when jobs are given to women, they did it well, and use your College as an example. GTEC, your Governing Council, and your church have shown trust in you so do not let them and yourself down. You are now the substantive Principal of the College and I urge you to act accordingly and be a mother to all. Continue to work hard, be focused, and put all other things behind you and rely on God who has brought you this far”.

The colourful investiture and induction ceremony was graced by personalities from all spheres of life including academia. Present were Principals from sister Colleges of Education led by the PRINCOF National President, Prof. Samuel Atintono, traditional authorities, Prof. Eric Anane, Director Institute of Education, UCC, among others.

The newly inducted Principal, Mrs. Cynthia Anim in her address indicated that her vision for the College is to make the College a model female College of Education where academic excellence and discipline will be the hallmark. She hoped that her vision would help in actualizing the College’s vision and as well transform it to an appreciable standard that can compete effectively with any College in the world.

Within two years of her role as Acting Principal of the College, Mrs. Cynthia Anim through Internally Generated Funds (IGF) has been able to construct a 13-seater Water Closet facility for students, reroofed the College’s Early Childhood block, purchased six projectors to enhance teaching and learning, commenced painting of the College’s structures to give it a facelift, renovated and tiled the cooking area of the College’s kitchen and bought three freezers for the kitchen, constructed a 15-cubicle bathroom for students among others.

Despite the significant achievements attained within her short period of Acting as the Principal, Mrs. Anim appealed to the government to support the College with a bus to assist in the rollout of the Supported Teaching in Schools (STS) and other related College activities. She also called on the government to construct a large auditorium, lecture halls, and state-of-the-art vocational skills block for the college to meet the increasing number of student population in the College.
